The first step to replace the power window motor is Remove the interior door panel.Use a tool to loosen the screw or bolt by turning it counterclockwise, then pull the door panel back out.

Preliminary preparatory work

*Gently remove the plastic door casing;
*Position the window to install the bolts;
*Move the window to contact the bolts and remove the bolts
*Lift the window onto the door frame and secure it.

The window regulator runs the width of the interior portion of the door and moves back and forth to raise and lower the window. Locate the bolts holding the regulator to the door and remove them with a box or open end wrench Keep the bolts somewhere safe where you can easily determine which bolt is the adjuster.Temporarily place the regulator on the inside of the door.

Locate and remove the Power window motor mounting bolts.

The electric window motor is much smaller than the regulator, but it should be positioned close to it. In most applications, the bolts used to attach the motor to the door will be of the same size as those used to install the regulator. Remove them and put them away in a safe place, and even though the bolts may have the same size heads, they may be of different lengths, so be sure to keep them separate from the regulator mounting bolts.

Disconnect the motor wiring harness connector.

The power window control is wired to the motor and regulator through a wiring tail fiber connector. Press down on the tab to separate the braid and then separate it to disconnect the motor.
Be careful not to break the tab that is holding the wiring harness together.
Use pliers to separate the braid, not wire. Pulling the wire may pull them out of the braid.

Remove the motor and regulator through the inspection port.

With the tail fiber disconnected, the electric window motor and regulator will no longer be connected to anything inside the door. Reach into the big channel, pull them both out.
These two are connected, so pulling on one will pull both of them out.
If you are just replacing the motor, be careful not to damage the regulator.

Connect the regulator to the new motor.

If you’re just replacing the power window motor and not the regulator itself, you’ll need to disconnect it and connect it to your new power window motor. Visually inspect both motors to make sure the new motor matches the old motor and then replace the regulator. Different vehicles will use different methods to attach the regulator to the car window motor. If you’re not sure how to disconnect the regulator, refer to your vehicle’s repair manual.

Installing a New Power Window Motor

Slide the new motor and regulator back into place.

Insert the power window motor and regulator into the main service ports on the door, in the exact opposite order of when they were removed when the door was disassembled.
Position each component so that the holes for the installation bolts align with the holes inside the door.

Replace the mounting bolts.

When you return to secure the electric window motor and regulator, keep each component in the proper position. Thread each bolt in by hand first and then torque it down with a wrench.

If the bolt does not thread in properly, remove it and try again to prevent cross-threading.

The bolts do not need to be extremely tight, just tight enough to prevent them from vibrating loose while you are driving.

Reconnect the electrical connectors.

Once the power window motor and regulator are securely installed to the door, reconnect the wiring of the motor to the harnesses you previously disconnected. This will reconnect the power window switch and power source to ensure all connections are consistent. If not, you do not have the correct power window motor.

Remove the tape, lower the window.

Let your friend help prop the window up. Once they are in place, remove the masking tape that is keeping the window in place on the door frame. Once the tape is removed, your friend can put the window back onto its mounting bracket.
Make sure your friend has a hold of the window before you remove the tape that is keeping it in place.

Insert the window installation bolts.

Let your friend hold the window in place so that the holes on the window line up with the holes for the installation bolts. Once the window is in place, first use your hands to tighten the window installation bolts, then use a wrench to further tighten. Make sure your friend holds the window in place until the installation bolts are in place. Then have your friend slowly let go to make sure the bolts are securely holding the window in place.

Reinstall the plastic liner and the inner panel.

Once the window is back in place, you can reinstall the plastic inner cover and then the interior panel back onto the door. Insert the door installation bolts or clips to secure it in place.

With the new power window motor in place, all that’s left to do is to test out the window to make sure it is working properly.
If you follow the above steps, congratulations, you have successfully learned to replace power window motor.
